Joshua Perro, a Democrat and member of the Worcester Public Library Board of Directors, officially announced his candidacy Wednesday for the 16th Worcester district state representative seat left open by the resignation of state Rep. John P. Fresolo.

The race for the State Representative seat for the Worcester 16th District has become more crowded in recent days.

Joshua Perro, 19, announced on Wednesday that he submitted 500 nomination signatures to the Election Commission at Worcester City Hall and that he was jumping into the race for former John Fresolo's seat after he resigned amidst an ethics probe.

Six people so far have taken out nomination papers for the 16th Worcester district state representative seat.

Dan Donahue, Khrystian E. King, Daniele F. Nanni, George Fox, Joshua Perro, and James M. O'Brien have all taken out nomination papers for the seat, left open with the recent resignation of state Rep. John P. Fresolo.
